About Journal:

Aims and scope
The Economic and Social Statistics Archive is a journal of the German Statistical Society. It is the central German-language publication for the publication of economic and social statistical works. These address substantive issues in the economic and social sciences using a methodology that combines concepts from classical economic statistics with modern, mathematically-based statistical approaches. It publishes methodically sound, problem-oriented works. The focus is on topics of interest to a broader academic and non-academic public.

The quality of a work is not determined by its mathematical level, but rather by its originality, substantive scientific insights, and relevance to economics or social sciences. This does not necessarily require a high degree of mathematical abstraction. On the other hand, a concrete practical question can quickly lead to a comparatively high level of mathematical understanding. Particular emphasis is placed on the readability of the published contributions.

The Economic and Social Statistics Archive aims to close the gap between the multitude of purely methodologically oriented, mostly English-language statistical journals and the general German-language press, especially the business press. It publishes articles,

which deal with statistical problems in the fields of economics and business administration, especially finance, as well as in the field of social sciences,
which provide scientific analyses of economic, social and demographic problems,
in which political, institutional or organisational aspects or quality standards of public statistics are discussed,
in which the role of statistics in society is addressed,
which examine the relationships between producers, users and respondents of statistics,
which address ethical issues of statistics and data protection problems,
in which issues concerning the profession of statisticians are discussed, in particular those relating to statistical training,
which provide an overview of the state of research in sub-areas of statistics,
which raise open questions in statistical-methodological research.
